Completed in 2005, Emerald Bay Cottage contains three separate units comprising a 1,725 square foot house:  1. a private 750 square foot, two story suite, 2. an adjoining (lockout) 675 square foot one bedroom area, and 3. a 300 square foot "maids quarters".  All three units have separate entrances.

The thoughtfully appointed two story unit is separated by a locking door from the 1 bedroom area. The house is completely furnished including linens and kitchenware.

The configuration of the house provides the perfect choice for family gatherings.  The lockout with two stand alone apartments allows families or friends to be on different schedules.  One may rise early and have coffee in one kitchen while others sleep late and have a leisurely breakfast in the other.  The "maid's quarters" at the canal end of the house is perfect for visiting friends with boats.  Dinner may be all together.

The house is in a unique location.  Canal front and across the street from the beach offers beach access as well as a place to dock a boat at your doorstep.  This is the place to swing in the hammock and get away from it all.  You can sunbathe and walk on the beautiful beaches.  How about Kayaking in the canals or along the islands a short paddle away?  There are islands fringed with reefs to see lobster, parrot fish, and turtles.  The dockside location includes a place to have your own boats.   Relax in peace and tranquility where you are often the only person on the beach.  Or, enjoy the many activities available from Emerald Bay.

The other islands of Abaco are short ferry rides away.  Or, they can be a convenient boatride in your own boat.  Climb the working candy-striped lighthouse in Hope Town. Rent a golf cart to tour Green Turtle Cay.  Visit Nipper's Beach Bar and Restaurant on Great Guana Cay.  While you are there, enjoy the Atlantic surf.  Most of the islands have dive shops with trips to the reefs for diving and snorkeling.  If bonefishing is your passion, guides are a phone call away.   There are a variety of things to do from Emerald Bay Cottage in Abaco.

When looking for brighter lights, Treasure Cay is an 8-minute drive.  Play golf or visit the Tipsy Seagull Bar.  The beach is one of National Geographic's top 10.  There are restaurants, gift shops, and a grocery store in this pleasant resort community.

Marsh Harbour, the largest town in Abaco, is 15 miles south. Shops offer everything from conch fritters and clothing to appliances and automobiles.  Its three supermarkets are well stocked with groceries from the US as well as products from British Commonwealth countries.  There are international airports at both Treasure Cay and Marsh Harbour.

Road trips along the 110 mile long island are always an option.  Drive to a beautiful fresh water blue hole and swing on a rope to get in or sunbathe on a flat rock with your feet in the water.  Meander 50 miles to Fox Town to feast on freshly caught and prepared seafood at Da Valley.  Head south to Little Harbor to see the bronze castings at Pete's Pub and Foundry.  These are only a few of the sights to see by car on Great Abaco.
